Principal Message

Dear Families,
Last week St Ambrose recognised Reconciliation Week by organising various activities to raise awareness. These included wearing yellow to draw attention to National Sorry Day, giving children the opportunity to experience Aboriginal language immersion, and engaging in artwork and storytelling. These meaningful events help deepen understanding and respect for Indigenous culture and history. A big thank you goes to Ms. Zoe Roberts, the Indigenous Education Worker, for her dedication and excellent coordination of these important activities that brought the community together in reflection and celebration.
Student progress reports will be issued next week to keep you informed about your child's academic development. Following the distribution of these reports, there will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress in detail through a parent-teacher interview. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this chance to engage with your child’s teachers, as parent involvement plays a crucial role in fostering and supporting student success. By working together, we can ensure the best possible learning experience and outcomes for your child. Correspondence will be issued soon with further details on scheduling the interviews.
Congratulations to all students receiving their First Communion over the upcoming weekends. This is a special and important milestone in your faith journey. We celebrate this joyous occasion with you and keep you in our prayers, wishing you continued blessings, guidance, and strength as you grow in your spiritual life. May this moment bring you peace and happiness.
Next Friday, 13th June, is our SHOWCASE afternoon. Classrooms will be open to all families and friends to visit, observe, and discuss your child's classwork firsthand. This is a wonderful opportunity to see their progress and celebrate their learning achievements together. We look forward to welcoming you!
Have a great long weekend.
Warm regards,
Brian Laybutt

GLOW Retreat Day
Last Friday, all of Year 6 from our school traveled to Mount St. Patrick College in Murwillumbah to participate in the GLOW retreat day! It's a brand new program this year, replacing the old Incitare Retreat, and it's all about helping Year 6 students like us connect with our faith.
Everyone had a great time doing fun activities. We came a long way on our spiritual journey with Jesus and God, and GLOW really wants us to meet Christ and become friends with Jesus. We had such great mentors that taught us what it means to be in the light of Jesus. These mentors were the School Evangelisation Team and the "Proclaim Lismore Wildfire" Worship Team, plus some older high school students who helped out! We were very lucky to be one of the few schools that attended, because Year 6 students from all over the Lismore Diocese get invited! The day was a whole lot of fun and we can't wait to do something else like it.

This Sunday 8th June we celebrate Pentecost Sunday.

Pentecost Sunday is often called the birthday of the Church. As we come to the end of the glorious time of Easter, let us pray that God will fill us with the Spirit of the risen Christ.
God of Light, send your Spirit into our lives so that we may do your work in the world. Amen
Jesus gently breathed on them and said “Receive the Holy Spirit.” In the upper room the disciples felt a strong wind.

On Friday 13th June we celebrate Feast of St Anthony of Padua

The purpose of the showcase is to highlight the accomplishments and progress of students in various subjects. Students will share their educational experiences and goals through technology, classroom displays, and their written bookwork. Please note that this is not a time for individual parent-teacher conferences.
